Exercise During Pregnancy Benefits

Exercise during pregnancy benefits all pregnant woman who wish to stay healthy and active prior to giving birth. Today’s video covers the benefits to exercise during pregnancy, which exercise to avoid, and provides options for exercise during pregnancy.

-Holding your breath during any activity

 

-Activities where falling is likely (such as skiing and horseback riding)

 

-Contact sports such as softball, football, basketball and volleyball

 

-Any exercise or activities at high altitudes

 

-Any exercises that involve laying on your back (especially long periods of time)

 

Benefits of Exercising while pregnant may include:

 

-shorten labor process

 

-increased chances of natural birth

 

-decrease in need for pain relief

 

-speed up recovery time after delivery

 

-reduction in the risk of gestational diabetes and hypertension
